Gays and lesbians over
60 sought for new group

Cleveland-An estimated four million Americans over 60 are gay or lesbian. Like all older adults, they are facing the challenges of later life, health concerns, living on a fixed income, finding meaningful ways to live a full life after retirement, and dealing with losses of partners, friends and family.
The Cleveland Task Force on Gay and Lesbian Aging is a group of health care professionals, gay community activists and others interested in the issues faced
The Task Force is looking for gay men
and lesbians age 60 and older to take part in a focus group to help plan a series of community educational events using these funds. A meeting for those interested in being a member of the focus group or learning more about the Task Force will be held on Tuesday, January 14 from 5:30 to 7 pm at the American Red Cross headquarters, 3747 Euclid Avenue. Free parking is available, refreshments will be served.

The Task Force recently received a $10,000 grant from the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging to provide information to the gay and lesbian community.on health, community services, estate planning and related topics of interest to older people.

HRC offers payment plan for their April dinner

Cleveland-The Human Rights Campaign Cleveland committee is once again offering a payment plan that will ease the financial burden of attending HRC's annual Cleveland dinner. The gala event will be held at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in downtown Cleveland on Saturday evening, April 19.
The 1996 dinner attracted over 500 people, breaking all previous attendance records, and
raised $45,000 for HRC, the nation's largest lesbian and gay political organization. Last year, between 40 and 50 people took advantage of the payment plan.
an initial $25 payment. HRC will automatically send a reminder invoice each month through April 5.
By April 5, participants should be paid up in full. There are no refunds on this plan. Funds left in the account will go as a donation to HRC. So far this year, approximately 20 people are participating in the program.
